Unveiling an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered a variety of engaging creations from small studios. But, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop striving to make its way to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."
Player controls is simple: you only need a single jump button. In 150 challenges, encounter tough enemies and access a shop to purchase customizations for your fecal avatar.
Plan your movements precisely, as a mistake requires beginning again. Jump using bubbles to launch yourself higher, navigate crumbling platforms, and activate triggers to reveal new areas. Earn UN-KOINS to purchase challenging levels in which gameplay intensifies.
In terms of design, the experience shows off neon environments and catchy soundtrack. The retro graphics with morphing basic polygons evokes memories of gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.
Although hard to recall other games where you are a dung character, interactive entertainment frequently included scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can create throwables from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ feces as soil enrichment. And of course, fecal references shows up a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive awards, such as taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. The demo is available currently on Steam, with the final release set to launch on PC this November.
